North Central Texas is essentially a transitional region in the state between the Texas Panhandle Plains to the west and the Prairies and Lakes Region to the east. It’s the area United Country Real Estate | McLemore Properties calls home, and it offers a whole lot of history, natural beauty, recreation and various attractions to discover.
The region is filled with farms and ranches against the backdrop of vast prairie grasslands, wooded acreage and multiple rivers including the Wichita, Pease, Red and Brazos. Large lakes and state parks beckon to outdoor enthusiasts. And when people feel like a trip into the big city, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex can be reached within a couple hours’ drive.
American author and screenwriter Larry McMurtry was born in Wichita Falls, one of the area’s most familiar locations, and a big inspiration for his work. There’s plenty to explore throughout Archer County (where our real estate brokerage is) and several neighboring counties, whether you’re a longtime resident or a brand-new visitor.
Following are some resources (listed by county) to help guide you to various things to see and do across North Central Texas.
